Comments Alerts and Notifications
Task Comments
Every task in Dooster has a comments section.

This can be added to by the person who the task is assigned
to, the manager who gave them the task
and anyone who was involved in it.
This builds up a thread of comments relating
to the task.
While you can change the original text of the task - ie in
the text dialogue box -, the comments thread is a neater way
of tracking opinions and responses.

Comment and task alerts
When you create a task and assign it
to someone they will be automatically notified
with an email.
This shows them all the relevant information, so they don't
have to login to Dooster to read it.

If the assigned person responds directly to that email, whatever
they say will appear in the comments section of the task
The person who assigned the task, and anyone involved, will
be emailed this comment.
If any of them reply to this notification email this also
goes straight into the comments thread...
Everyone else gets an email notification of this latest comment
in turn... and so it goes on.
This simple functionality
is surprisingly powerful because it means
you don't need to log in to your Dooster to control a task.
You can easily handle tasks via your email no matter where
you are.
Everyone stays in the loop.
This makes for better communications and should add to your
teams efficiency and effectiveness.
In addition to controlling the comments via email, you can
also handle all the comments when logged into Dooster.
Restricting / Limiting task notifications
aka Owner Opt Outs
The Owner/ coordinators are treated as Project Managers ie
they will get a copy of every single task notification for
a project unless they select the Opt out (project settings
>> Owner Opt Out).
The same applies to project managers ie in order to reduce
the amount of email notifications they get, they can also
opt out in the project settings

"My" email screen

available
Another unique feature of Dooster amongst task / productivity
tools is the way it allows you to incorporate your normal
every day emails into the Dooster system
ie whereby you can turn them into de facto tasks - with due
dates, priorities and assign them to projects.
Organising your emails in this wa is is completely
optional and can be done to a variety of degrees.
For example you can keep your old email system
and simply forward selected emails into your Dooster email
system. These might be emails that are associated with particular
projects or which you are worried you might forget so want
to be reminded about them.
NOTE: to activate your email screen go to your "account"
(see link in top right corner) and see "Activate dooster
email"

Your Dooster email address
Everyone who uses Dooster - from the account owner to any
member of their team - has a unique "Dooster email address",
Typically this would look like:
john@smith.Dooster.net
ie where John is the username and smith is the name of the
account ie smith.Dooster.net
Email identities
You can create as many "From" identities as you
like.
(This "From identity" is what the email recipient
sees in their dialogue box - in their "From" column).
This can be useful where you want to keep separate email
identities eg for personal emails vs work emails.
To create a new from identity go to "My
Email" screen >> "click to add new id"
in the top left.
When you create an email simply select the "from identity"
you want by using the "From" drop down list.

Creating tasks by email
Each task list has its own email address.
This means you can email things like notes / ideas
or messages directly into each list
The list email address can be found in the slide out section
to the right of each task list title bar.
Mouse over the + sign on the far right of each List title
bar. This reveals the slide out (slide out shown).
You click on the email icon in the slide
out which produces this pop up

To set up the email simply click on the email address
This opens up your email client
Then add the list email address - with an easy to remember
name - into your contacts
eg "Project X ideas" So every time you want to
email into that list you just type in the easy to remember
name "Project X ideas"
When you send it the email goes into that list and becomes
a task.
This means that you can give it a due by date, a priority
or assign it to someone else. And so on.
This can be particularly useful with sending phone messages
to team members. Rather than just sending them an email -
which can be overlooked - you can also copy the email into
a task list "Mike's phone messages". This means
if Mike misses the email the task will become overdue.
Adjusting settings for emails into lists
You can control the behaviour of an email sent into a project.
Go to project settings. Toward the bottom of that screen
you will see this:

You can decide who the emails are automatically assigned
to
You can set when they should go overdue
Reply Address
noreply@dooster.net shows up as the from address on ALL alert emails.
We then use the list's email address as the Reply-To address. This is
a fairly graceful way to keep a whole bunch of list addresses out of
people's address books, while still providing the "reply to this
email" feature.
